Working

Your engine connects to your transmission at a place called bell housing. Bell housing contains a torque converter for an automatic transmission equipped vehicles. The torque converter is basically fluid coupling whose task is to connect your engine to your transmission and thus to your driven wheels. The transmission consists of planetary gear sets which are in charge of providing different gear ratios. Torque converters and planetary gear sets play a vital role in automatic gear transmission.

Engine’s flex plate connects directly to a torque converter. when the crank shaft rotates, so does the torque converter housing.
